Dr. I. John Hesselink is professor of theology emeritus and the former president of Western Theological Seminary in Holland, Michigan. He is an authority on John Calvin and studied under both Emil Brunner and Karl Barth personally, completing his doctorate (on John Calvin and the law of God) under Karl Barth’s direction at the University of Basel in 1961. John spent many years as a missionary in Japan, including twelve years as professor of historical theology at Tokyo Union Theological Seminary. He is a minister in the Reformed Church in America and serves as both an advisor to ACT 3 and a contributing editor to the ACT 3 Review. He lives in Holland, Michigan, with his wife, Etta.
