The Sing Team lead by Brian Eichelberger is a pop-folk band that leads the worship gatherings at Mars Hill Ballard. Brian's idea for the band was to invite several of his close musician friends to play together with the primary purpose of worshiping in community, then leading the church in corporate worship as an overflow. Christmas! is more than The Sing Team thinking they have something clever to offer you; it's sort of a musical memento for them to leave behind reflecting on a year of God’s grace

Trying to come up with a fresh take on a traditional Christmas song was a tough task for Brian. He admits,  "I think the problem might be that I try to take it upon myself to wrap the entire paradox of our glorious God humbly entering humanity into some clever chord changes and drum beats. But unless I keep it simple, the lyric will get lost, and I will end up drawing attention to my musicianship rather than the awesome eternal message of the gospel."

The Sing Team didn’t record the songs in a sweet studio with the endless amenities of modern digital recording technology; they simply jammed into the same living room last year, threw up some microphones, and recorded to four-track cassette tape. You can watch the video below of their recording of "O Come, O Come Emmanuel." Without the Auto-Tune™ vocals and drum triggers we’ve all come to expect, it’s a little less slick and polished, but it sounds like actual humans playing music in a room together. Imagine that! They hope that the recordings make it from their living rooms to yours this Christmas season.
