Giveaway: Online workshop on responding to child abuse
Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, the fruit of the womb a reward. Psalm 127:3
Children are blessing from God. How does your church protect them? How do you care for them in the wake of abuse?
In his recent post, Victor Vieth, the Executive Director of the National Child Protection Training Center (NCPTC), gave some practical notes on how to counsel abused children with love, compassion, and the gospel. Next week, Mr. Vieth will be holding an online webinar to train leaders and churches in how to respond to instances of child sex abuse and how to protect the children in their care.
This workshop happens only once a month with just 50 slots available each month. Typically there is a fee to attend, but NCTPC has graciously given Resurgence 50 slots to giveaway for free.
This webinar will train leaders in how to respond to child sex abuse, so we’d ask that entrants to the giveaway be genuinely interested in learning how to respond. It will take place February 13 from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. CST. Those selected will be notified by February 12.
The workshop will give an overview of the dynamics present in cases of child sexual abuse including a discussion of the spiritual impact of child abuse. It offers concrete suggestions for developing church policies to protect children in thier care as well as responding to instances of abuse in the families they serve. The workshop is ideal for clergy and church workers involved with families. A Q&A will also occur at the end, so attendees are encouraged to prepare questions.
A big thank you to NCTPC and Victor Vieth for making this giveaway possible. Find out more about them here.
