Preaching the Gospel
Timothy Keller
Dr. Tim Keller, senior pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York, New York and founder of Redeemer Church Planting Center, speaks on, "Preaching the Gospel" in his second of three sessions (session 7) from the Reform & Resurge Conference May 2006. Watch this video from Dr. Keller as he gives some insightful comments on preaching the gospel today. What is discovered is that the older evangelicals know how to preach the gospel of sovereign grace in salvation and the younger evangelicals preach the gospel of salvation as a means for a new heavens and new earth. Dr. Keller notes that there are not many movements today that combine these two ways to preach the gospel as both the building of God's Kingdom through people being redeemed by the atoning work of Jesus Christ on the cross. What needs to be realized is that every theme and/or thread points to Jesus. This also includes the building of the Kingdom of God and personal salvation. More importantly Dr. Keller gives great advice at preaching the gospel in getting to the roots of idolatry and selfishness rather than just the slap on the hand for doing wrong. Preaching the gospel in a manner that glorifies Jesus rather than us is key aspect for the church today and this video from Tim Keller should push the church in that direction.

Being the Church in our Culture
Timothy Keller
Our keynote speaker of the Reform & Resurge Conference May 2006 was Dr. Tim Keller, senior pastor at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in New York, New York and founder of Redeemer Church Planting Center. Please watch the session 6 video, the first of three talks by Dr. Keller on, "Being the Church in our Culture." In this session Dr. Keller challenges believers to understand the division in church as it relates to the culture that we are in today. Walk along with Tim Keller in the six facets of how to be a church that reaches the culture. First, more Christians living long-term in cities; second, with a better understanding of the gospel; third, living as dynamic counter-cultures in the city; fourth, integrating their faith and their work; fifth, radically committed to the good of the city as a whole; and sixth, contextualizing the gospel message. His stress lies in the fact that we must do all stated facets of ministry because they are all required by the gospel. They are not optional, and they are inter-dependent. Holistic ministry, in which Christians work sacrificially for the common good, is the necessary context for any convincing evangelistic call to believe in Jesus. This video of Dr. Keller's session should give a solid foundation for all that are on mission with Jesus. (Important Notice: The notes that were provided at the conference that Dr.

Humble Orthodoxy
Joshua Harris
Watch the video of Session 5 with Joshua Harris, senior pastor at Covenant Life Church in Gaithersburg Maryland, titled: "Humble Orthodoxy." Joshua Harris digs into the text of 2 Timothy 2 in this video from the Reform & Resurge Conference May 2006. Whose approval are you living for? And what do you have to do to get it? These questions are the questions that Joshua Harris presses for answers to those who are on mission for Jesus. He quickly points out by asking these types of questions one could be building the wrong foundation in which one should operate. Joshua Harris then leads us into building the proper foundation on which we are to live. Pastors who are approved by God teach the truth faithfully, not finding texts to make themselves look good. Pastors who are approved by God must live the truth personally, not just in the "professional life" but all areas of life. Pastors who are approved by God must represent the truth humbly, not using our role or tools as weapons to approve oneself. As we approach our call in this way our message will hold true in all times and we will set the stage for the generation that follows. May this video from Joshua Harris establish a humble theology in your life.

Understanding Culture
Ed Stetzer
In the fourth session of the Reform & Resurge Conference May 2006, Dr. Ed Stetzer, author of Breaking the Missional Code, pastor of Lake Ridge Church in Atlanta and missiologist at the North American Mission Board, continues the conversation from session three as he speaks on "Understanding Culture." In the last session Dr. Stetzer talked about why culture is important. Now as you watch this video session he will expound on how one begins to understand the culture in which one ministers. How does one shift to a church born in culture, not a culture born out of the church, that is biblically faithful? How does the church go from an attractional church to an incarnational church? The church needs to shift from professional leadership to passionate godly leaders. Dr. Stetzer also continues to push the church to realize that the people in the church are not ministers but missionaries in their communities. As well he challenges leaders to leave a legacy of exponential growth not details of themselves. In conclusion Dr. Stetzer just gives great points to ponder in this video if you plan on being a leader in reaching the culture that surrounds you. This session will give you great thought provoking lessons along with tools on how you can understand your culture in order to reach your culture effectively by staying on mission with Jesus.

Breaking the Missional Code
Ed Stetzer
Watch the Session 3 video from the Reform & Resurge Conference with Dr. Ed Stetzer, pastor of Lake Ridge Church in Atlanta, author and director of research at the North American Mission Board, preach on, "Breaking the Missional Code." Dr. Stetzer will be speaking in this video about the biggest issues evangelicalism will face in the next ten years, specifically in the areas of ecclesiology and missiology. Dr. Stetzer will be preaching and teaching from Acts 17. He points out to the church that we must realize we are to be a people of God that will know how to reach people with the gospel of Jesus Christ in our culture because culture matters. As clearly displayed in Acts 17, Paul knows the culture around him and as controversial as it was then it is as controversial now. The key for the church is to see that the "how of ministry" is determined by the "who, the when and the where of ministry" because context matters. We are also encouraged to learn how to pastor in our communities not pastor in our heads. In addition to contending for the faith and theology but to do it in our culture like Paul did in Acts 17. Dr. Stetzer also desires our need to acknowledge the positive things of the culture and rebuke the negative things of the culture.
Beyond Brokenness: How Jacked-up Punks Will Change the World
Anthony Bradley
Reform & Resurge Conference May 2006 Session 2. Anthony Bradley, professor at Covenant Seminary, speaks about, "Beyond Brokenness: How Jacked-Up Punks Will Change the World." Watch this video presentation on the Kingdom of God. Anthony Bradley explains that redemption is more than just involvement with people but all things. The Kingdom that God is setting up is Jesus' rule and reign over all. Do God's people realize that God uses people to build his Kingdom? Even though everyone is "jacked-up" or sinful he still chooses to use believers to preach the gospel in order to redeem all things.
Using themes from Isaiah 61:1-4 Anthony Bradley hopes to address that living missionally is so much more than dealing with issues of brokenness and healing--viz., namely that we now have a role to play in the continuing story of cosmic redemption. He desires that we look at how we can missionally live for the Kingdom of God and how we are invited to partake in the story of redemption. Having a Kingdom mindset we will realize that everywhere and everyone has a role to play and areas to reach for redemption. The good news of Jesus and his work is for any type of abusive situations and those that have incurred deep wounds such as how divorce has brought brokenness to many people.
