Announcing a New Conference: Contextualizing the Gospel in the New South
The South is changing. Through urbanization and the vibrant growth of southern cities, the American South is becoming a center for innovative, intellectual, and cultural growth in the United States. Yet for the first time in its history, the church in the South is declining faster than anywhere in the country. Advance the Church believes this decline and the exodus away from the faith is due to internal failures rooted in gospel illiteracy and weak gospel contextualization—not due to societal or cultural change. [Update] Editor's note: This is a conference for the church in the South, by the church in the South. It is being led by Southern churches who care deeply about their region, and 8 out of the 9 speakers live and minister in the South. The Resurgence is partnering with Advance the Church because we believe in what they are doing and want to support them in their mission to revitalize the church in their region.
